Kelly: I personally recommended the AE fax modem to online users, not on behalf of Soft-Logik. I was speaking from personal experience. I still recommend it to those who need one. I don't consider it a piece of garbage as you do. It's cheap, it works, and you can fax directly from PgS. The software isn't the best, but it's easy to use. So what if I no longer receive junk mail from AE? I don't feel I should have to apologize to you for recommending something which I personally like. Buying PageStream gives you _10_ Compugraphic fonts, not 2 as in ProPage 2.1 or 7 as in ProPage 3.0. And to paraphrase you, if that isn't good enough you get a program that takes Type 1 fonts and uses them directly without conversion. (And contrary to what you said, fonts run thru the GD converter cannot be used directly with other programs, you have to install them with Fountain, so you don't save disk space.) No, 2.2 doesn't have Arexx, but it does have HotLinks, which is much, much more important for desktop publishing. Our HotLinks Editions is $100 ($75 to registered owners of PageStream) and gives you a text processor (with spell checker, PageStream-like tagging (no embedded codes to worry about), text styles, and lots of options), a small paint program (for photo/bitmap editing and retouching), plus HotLinks itself. Not a bad deal. And HotLinks is blindingly fast. And solid; there are no known bugs in HotLinks or BME. PageStream 2.2 is also solid. It's probably the most stable desktop publisher ever for the Amiga. Aside from importing into picture windows (for clipping), we haven't had any serious bugs reported. (And that one is easy to workaround.) PgS currently imports WordPerfect 4.1, Excellence, ProWrite, IFF FTXT, ASCII, 1stWord and Rediger. It also imports IFF, IMG, TIFF, PCX, GIF, EPS, Illustrator, GEM, Neo, Degas, Aegis, ProDraw and Tiny. Any text you can import into PageStream you can publish to HotLinks for use in any HotLinks text compatible program (such as PageLiner).
