Despite what USR would like you to believe ("Dual Standard"), there is only on international STANDARD for 9600 bps full duplex communications, and that is CCITT V.32. The "Dual Standard" understands V.32 AND USR's proprietary HST protocol. Why am I talking about USR? Because they have for years had extremely attractive sysop pricing, and as a result there are many, many BBS's out there running on HST's. If they have upgraded to current state-of-the-art "Dual Standard"s, then ANY V.32 modem can talk to them at 9600 bps. If they haven't, then the fastest common speed for a non-HST modem is only 2400 bps (CCITT V.22bis protocol). HST protocol is now a relic of the past, and will slowly fade away (IMHO), while, as I said, the STANDARD is now V.32 (and V.32bis for 14,400 bps full duplex communication). . . . . . JimDoc
