John, Thanks for your response. I am aware of the coarseness of tall fescue. There are some new "turf type" tall fescues that have a texture closer to bluegrass, even though they must be still planted in a monostand. I should have qualified myself in my previous message. I am one of the turf instructors here at the Ohio State Univ. Ag Tech Institute. However, if you look at my lawn, you would never guess I teach turf management. After working with it during the day, I would rather putter in my roses and perennial beds that put any time ino the lawn. Bob
