Don — you will have more convenient control, but hardly less expensive. We
grew 2,000 flats of plants a year when we were in the bedding plant
business, and did detailed cost analysis of the mediums; Oasis was one of
the most expensive. YOu might just want to look into getting a better deal
on your mix. We were paying about $15 for a compressed 5.5 cu ft bale of
Sunshine Mix that filled something on the order of a hundred flats. The
Oasis is a foam product, the same stuff that is used in floral arrangements
to hold them upright and store water in the bottom of hte vase.
