Wayne, just thought I'd hop in here while you were on one of my favorite subjects; Vlan's overpricing. You might be interested to know that RGB makes a good chunk of the profit on the Vlans they sell, but you are right in that generally speaking Vlans need to have some competition, look for Nucleas (makers of personal SFC) to have something in the next 90 days. Another important bit of info, the EDLP that they originally sold with the system was written by Mike Berro, I understand they never came to a satisfactory financial arrangement, essentially Mike didn't make the money he thought he would, and RGB came up with another version of the software, the point here is that if you want EDLP on the Amiga, without Amilink, it's available from Mike directly. I looked long and hard at computer based edit control, if I had the oppourtunity to buy today I would probably go with the Sundance Systems version even though it is mac based. I decided last year to go with Paltex Abner II AB roll, it's only Parallel but it does SMPTE, and the "hands on" knob and button approach gratifies the need to be "physical" with the system. My projects are basic AB roll with no real need for list management, the main thing I need it to do is work consistantly under pressure, something my Amiga sometimes refuses to do, one of the reasons I have installed a second Amiga downstream from Toaster is to be a back up in case my main box crashes so bad it needs to go into the shop. It's primary duty now is a dedicated CG station. Gee, I DO go on… Frank
