TurboSounds operate differently than standard IFF samples. Whereas IFF samples contain one sample for each octave and then rely on the Amiga to transpose from pitch to pitch, TurboSound Intruments contain a separate sample for each pitch. This way, we can use the Amiga's resources to merge several samples together and send them down one of the Amiga's sound channels simultaneously. Because TurboSounds need as much processor speed as possible to achieve more than the four typical sounds at once, we had to give up some sounds quality on 6800 processor machines. We are working on a low cost hardware solution that would help out with this fidelity issue. Melissa
