Hi, was wondering if anyone out there could give me some advice on purchasing a 13 or 14 inch color monitor for my Mac IIsi? I was just about ready to drop $650 – $700 on the Apple 13" monitor, but thought I'd snoop around to see if there were some viable, cheaper alternatives. I've seen ads for a Mirror 14" monitor, and I've seen some places (mail order) advertising other brands like Goldstar, but I don't much about their quality relative to the Apple Monitor – a few of the issues of MacUser and MacWorld that I've found lying around the office tend to review the pricey large, 24-bit monitors. Has anyone reviewed entry level color monitors? I also had some other questions that maybe someone could answer: 1) Some ads say that their monitors conform to the Swedish standards for ELF and VLF emissions. How important of a consideration should this be in purchasing a monitor? 2) At least one article I've read said that the performance of my IIsi would be greatly enhanced by the addition of a drop-in video board. Other than Apple's video card (expensive), are there suitable, less-expensive third-party cards for such a purpose? Any advice on any of the above issues would be appreciated by a somewhat confused monitor shopper who needs color but doesn't have a lot of money.
