As a herd, "lawyers ARE distasteful", with the vast majority's activities
tarring the genuine articles with the same sleaze brush. It is an
unfortunate fact of life that SOME legal representation is a necessity,
but to have 70% of the world's total supply…
Someone in the LA Times a day or so ago commented about what might be the
state of the economy if the US had 70% of the world's engineers, instead
of its lawyers.
With the defense industry falling into disrepair, 70% of the engineers in
it are unemployed. Surely the minds that developed the F117, the Patriot,
the Tomahawk, etc, could imagineer the pants off the rest of the world in
consumer goods.
