Oliver, There is _currently_ no real performance difference in display list operations between the real and protected mode DLDs. However, memory management has improved in the protected mode version, so overall AutoCAD performance should also improve. We will be releasing our Turbo DLD386 software shortly however, which will provide a significant performance boost for zooms, pan, regens, and other functions over the existing software. The upgrade to Turbo will be either free or inexpensive, depending on date of purchase of the original DLD386. Expect this software out in the next month or so. A no-frills protected DLD386-VGA driver is available from Diamond's BBS (call them at 408-736-2000 to get the BBS #) at no charge, while we also offer DLD386Deluxe-VGA upgrades (contains Bird's Eye, etc.) for $125 in the U.S. In Germany, contact TechExport in Munich for purchasing information.
