I think *some* people will be confused by the differences no matter what
it's called. But then, some people are confused by such simple things as
"press any key to….". Well, you get my point.

I agree that perhaps they're not the preferred vechicle to get the type of
functionality us Hemmers & Hawers are after, but it's the only thing we've
got to use at the moment, and a good number of people feel they should work
that way now. I think you even put it best right here: "…what everyone
seems to be trying to use…". Heck, if they're comfortable with it this
way, then leave 'em be. Yes it wasn't designed that way, but some of the
designers themselves have changed their minds (Brad, for instance). Perhaps
it's even worth making it work just for R12, if you are indeed right that
R13 will change the architecture significantly. If that's the case, surely
changing the way (location) it works in R13 again will be a very minor
change comparatively.
