…Continued… In AME Release 1, AutoCAD customers found an affordable, accessible alternative to traditional modeling tools. Using AME, they created complex 3D models by invoking and manipulating basic solid shapes or "primitives" – e.g., boxes, cones, cylinders – or by extruding and revolving 2D profiles. In addition, they used simple commands like Join, Subtract, Intersect, Rotate, and Extrude – that were more intuitive, more reflective of the way objects are created and shaped in the real world. Moreover, since AME models are informationally complete, AME Release 1 made it possible to obtain mass property data, such as volume, centroid, and moments of inertia. With AME Release 2, AutoCAD customers will find that Autodesk's modeling solution has become even more flexible and robust, while remaining highly accessible. Among the product's new features: A Region Modeler that gives AutoCAD customers working primarily in 2D access to the same powerful functionality available for 3D in AME Release 1. Not only does this feature simplify model construction and editing, but because the 2D models thus created are informationally complete, they can be analyzed and used in downstream applications.
