Gordon, My first guess on your problem would be the modem itself might be defective. A simple test would be to set it to factory defaults completely. Next, try to dial yourself…the modem should dial and then report BUSY. Next, try to dial another modem…CompuServe would be ok. You don't have to log on…simply try to connect with one of the modems. Make sure you're calling the 1200 baud number, not the 2400 or 9600 baud numbers. If that works, then it's simply a matter of setting your modem and software to properly match each other.
