Jeffrey, Let me respond….. 1) Be patient, we didn't all start out with Pentiums, and I still have a 486/33 VLB computer at home. Make sure that you are fully exploiting you hardware before you move up. My personal choice (and I think that Evan Yares would after agree due to his recent positive review) for a large format monitor would be IDEK! We have been using IDEK's for four years now, and (knock on wood) we have _never_ pulled a service call on them!!! Serious track record! I have a Vision Master 8421 at the office hooked up to a Matrox MGA Impression, and 1600 x 1200 on this combo is KILLER! 3) >> replacing 212 MB IDE hard drives with 512 MB IDE << – Are you out of drive bays, as it would be easier to simply add a second drive and "dedicate" it as data storage. Should be a simple install, and drives have plummeted in price. Call your dealer. 4) >> I am afraid to buy new SVGA cards because they may not be compatible with my old SVGA monitors and I may have to buy new monitors. << – I would buy the monitor first, and BUY A GOOD ONE! I have an IDEK 21" 5221A at home that has been on five different graphics cards. Graphics Card technology tends to change much faster than monitors, and a good monitor should be with you for a long time! When you purchase a monitor, use the following guidelines… – 17" Get 1280 x 1024 support at 70Hz vertical refresh – 21" Get 1600 x 1200 support at 65Hz vertical refresh Hope this helps, Chuck
