Yost Group, I am working with the acad manager of The Glosten Associates, inc. They design ships. I need the best info on the best drawing methods for the cleanest dxf export and import into 3DStudio. We have made preliminary tests with bad results which give only stray lines here and there, no solid surfaces to work with. Could they have drawn the mesh in the "wrong" way for 3DS? I believe it was done using 3d polylines. I am going to recieve more detailed info on how the file was produced. Cary Kline, the manager of the CAD department is deep into AutoCad products and is trying to develop the animation/presentation side of his business. For you information, the vessel is an Artic Research Ship commissioned by the University of Alaska. We would appreciate any help you can give at this point. I believe the problem is a simple one, but I am just unfamiliar enough with AutoCad not to know for sure. I know I have given you very little to go on, just trying to get the juices flowing, or perhaps the answer is immediate <g>.
