#Sanyo GVR-S950
We are having a problem with our Sanyo GVR-S950, and I'm not sure if it is
actually broken, or if one of the defaults had been corrupted. When using
LightWave to record some Framestores off the hard drive, we first send the
command "INIT.CODE2.EDOT5.TALK2.DEBG0." in Setup 1 and the command to insert at
:023100 in Setup 2. In Command we simply have the string "APND1.". When
Lightwave sends the first frame, the VTR acts normally, rewinds to 5 seconds
before the insertion point, plays, and inserts the frame at the Edit Out point.
When Lightwave sends the second frame, the VTR rewinds, plays, inserts, *then*
rewinds, plays and inserts a second time. When Lightwave sends the third
frame, the VTR inserts *three* times, and each successive APND command seems to
add 1 more to some stack of commands the VTR is performing.
This is not how it worked when we first got it. We've successfully recorded
animations before with the same equipment and software. It wouldn't be the
first time a GVR-S950 failed on us though. The first one we bought "died" on
us after two hours of striping a tape. We couldn't even get the tape out.
A couple more questions for any seasoned GVR-S950 users out there: If I have
an animation that consists of 30 frames that I want to repeat several times, is
there an easy way to load 1 frame and have the VTR insert it at 30 frame
intervals? Also, how accurate is the Jog Control supposed to be? The SMPTE
time code the machine displays is neither accurate or consistent with the
frames I'm viewing
when I use the Jog Control to step through the tape. And
lastly, if the SMPTE stripe gets "lost" due to someone doing a normal record on
the tape, is there any way to restore it?
Thanks,
Mike McCormick
