DENNIS, I tried applying the instruction you specified after the SETPATCH QUIET line:_ SYS:UTILITIES/AutoXA >NIL: The result was:- << IPrefs >> Program Failed (error #80000006) Wait for disc activity to finish SUSPEND REBOOT After which the system immediately locked up and I had to switch off the machine completely before trying to reboot again; the result of which was:- Software Failure Task 08013ED0 The machine then attempted to reboot and all that happened was that this statement kept repeating. I was unable to obtain control of the machine and had to insert the floppy Workbench 3.0 and then CD the original hard drive boot-up partition. I then eventually entered the startup-sequence and removed the line you suggested putting in before switching off and then rebooting again. After this the machine booted up normally but still with a meg of graphic ram unavailable. I am totally at a loss as to what to do next to get the M1230XA to acknowledge fully the 8Mb it has on board and leave my graphics memory free. Do you suppose that the board itself may be at fault?
