Ted,
Actually a closed Pline is meshed in the 3D Editor as a 2D planar object. An
extruded pline is meshed along its extrusion direction and if its extruded
and closed it will be capped top and bottom.
You'd be suprized at what some entities do when their imported into 3DS.
