Tony; That's what I like! The eternal optimist! The 3.5" drives almost universally use the "single inline" style package for the terminating resistors but it is primarily a matter of when the drive was designed. The other format for the resistors is a package that looks like a "run of the mill" TTL chip. Usually dual inline, 14 pin. The "package" usually "stands out" to those familiar with IC packages. It may be a different color or appear to have a different "luster" if the same color as the IC packages. Additionally it will have a decidedly different numbering style. Also recognizing a resistor manufacture's logo can help. -bill
