James: Peter C. has great advice. FWIW I've printed 1280 x 960 .tif images on a Kodak Colorease dye-sublimation printer with fine results. I didn't have the time to render to a larger file size and the portability of the resulting file was an issue if I was going to get the images printed quickly. I don't have a Syquest drive or similar so I was flipping floppies to my local print house. Also, a 1280 x 960 file = +3mb but mine all zipped down to less than 1.4mb so I could store 1 image per disk. Output is typically 8-1/2 x 11 paper but the image is subject to a border of about 3/4" on three sides and 1/4" on the bottom. I don't know if this is true of any other printer than the Kodak. There is also an 11 x 17 format but I haven't seen this output. I would guess it is also subject to some required border. Hope this helps.
