#NEW BBS.TXT
This message turned up in search, but its forum couldn’t be identified from the original transcript, so it may not be linked into its thread.
Just wanted to let everyone know that the new BBS.TXT file is up. We're
really spreading out now with 59 numbers, including two in Canada. Everyone
please remember to drop me a note if you can confirm any of these number FROM
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, or can add any additional data such as baud rates.
Also, I need to trim PRODES.TXT somewhat; it's starting to get very expensive
for people to download. So, effective March 1st, I will be purging old
material on a more or less monthly basis. Any item which has been on the
market for a month or more will have its description or comments deleted,
leaving only the item name and cost. So, if you want a complete listing
you'll have to grab it before then. Otherwise wait until the new copy goes
up; it should make a significant difference in size.
Related to PRODES.TXT, I'd like to compile a list of what works with the
transformer. Everyone please append a note to this thread with what runs or
doesn't run. I AM ONLY INTERESTED IN THE RELEASE VERSION OF TRANSFORMER!
Please include the version of MSDOS you are running and any other comments
you feel are useful. This will go into PRODES.TXT for everyone's use.
Finally, I need some forum feedback. Should I keep doing AVAIL.TXT? This
file was intended to be a crutch back in the "old days" when we didn't know
what was where. Now that software and hardware are pretty much available
everywhere, I'm not sure it serves any useful purpose. Also remember that
Amazing Computing carries a similar list every month. So, should I keep
AVAIL.TXT or drop it? (Lack of response votes "no"! 8).
Thanks for keeping the information coming. I can't do this without your help.
Nybbles, Rick
P.S. Congrats to Steve and Dave as new ForumFolks, and let's have a round of
applause for our three sysops; a fine team to say the least.
