#LISP Problem(s)

Was trying to help a friend setup 9.0 on his AT and we keep getting a message
"Can't open (path)\acad.lsp for input". Used the set parameters within DOS
for:
SET LISPHEAP=40000
SET LISPSTACK=5000
SET ACADFREERAM=24000 These have always worked for me. He has a
true Blue AT with 640K RAM plus 1.5Meg Extended and 2.5Meg Expanded. The
extended uses VDISK as a RAM Disk but it didn't matter where we ran the ACAD
from(ram or fixed disk). The size of the acad.lsp file (8K down to 1K) had no
effect either. The Autolisp feature from config was on as wl. This one
really has me stumped! Any sgestions anyone?
