To All,
Sure would appreciate a reply if anyone can help with this one. I have an
Anchor Automation Volksmodem 12. I'm using Online! (2.01 i think) . It seems
that the modem does not work properly unless I send commands with
communication parameters set at 7E1. That is, if I dial a remote system with
my system initally set at 8N1 I get nothing but garbled data even though the
remote system is operating at 8N1. I have to set to 7E1, dial , connect, then
go to 8N1. Under some circumstances it gets much more complicated – the modem
connects up but transmission under XModem is bizarre and results in error
messages for the first two or three XModem blocks and then from block 40 on
(resulting in a failed transmission).
Is this modem capable of talking to my terminal only at 7E1? I thought that
the modem itself should not enter into the decision of transmission
parametersonly the communication soft-ware at each end.
