John, I don't care for the Hollywood formula either, especially when it applies to predictable movies. I like to be kept guessing as to the outcome. However, I can forgive a poor story if either, there is great CG (e.g. Jurassic Park) or there is great sex (e.g. Boxing Helena). There is a genre which I like that Hollywood seems to be hot on at the moment: erotic thrillers/murder mysteries. My wife and I watched "Whispers in the Dark" and it certainly spiced up our post-movie activities <nudge, nudge, wink, wink>. I also liked "Boxing Helena", although nobody else seemed to.
