Paul, I hope I can set you straight on the Magni. It can not replace a frame buffer function which is to output the results of a rendering in 3DS. The Magni VGA producer on the otherhand will just convert your VGA 640X480X256 output to a standard TV signal video. It also will allow the VGA signal to be mixed or keyed over another video signal. Great for superimposing graphics and titles over your home videos generated with a paint program in the compatible resolution.. While the feature connector on most video cards will be compatible with the Magni there are a few VGA cards that have feature connectors that do not work. Better check with Magni tech support for approval. Now that I told you why it won't work as a frame buffer, here's a way you can use it to put your still renderings and animations to video tape with the Magni. Just render everything to 640X480X256 colors and when it displays on your VGA monitor the Magni will output a recordable NTSC video signal simultaneously.
