Access! does indeed close the serial device. It does not however turn
off your modem <grin>. If you set your modem for "auto-answer", then
quitting the term program will not reset it to _not_ auto-answer. For most
Hayes compatable modems, an "ATS0=1" would set the modem to auto-answer;
"ATS0=0" will disable it. There is a "modem Setup String" in Access! (in the
DEFINE window) that
is sent out to intitialize the modem when the term boots. There should also
be
an "Exit string" but isn't and will be in the next version.
In short, it's not the serial.device answering the phone, it's the
modem settings that do that. — Keith —
