My father's ancestors settled along the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers
right at the KY/TN border. He used to tell of an earthquake that had
occurred soon after the earliest of them came there. He said that some of
their homes fell into the river during the night of that earthquake and
that their bodies were never recovered. The stories about it had been
handed down for about 100 years by the time he heard them.
