No. You don't have to run Windows in order to use a NT server. When
you install Windows for Workgroups you also get a DOS client
software. You can do anything you want without ever loading Windows
(wouldn't I know that!?)…
By the way, the DOS client software (NET.EXE) is available in the
Microsoft forum. It is an interesting (read FREE) Lantastic
alternative. Just note that the SERVER must be running either W4W or
NT, thus, not a total Lantastic (or Novell Lite) replacement.
