Could you pass on those magazines/journals titles, and any address, phone, fax info you can round up. Getting hold of specialized magazines can be a chore around here, unless you know exactly what you want. Most often you end up phoning a distributor and trying to convince them to do you a favour and put an issue in a nearby store. <<loads of idle SGI machines>> Sacrilege! Those boobs that pass by the usage time should be lobotomized if they weren't already <g>. I'll probably end up with 3DSr2. I just hate to drop the money and not end up with current software. Also, I don't think that the r2 package is upgradable. All in all though, I'd rather have something than nothing. Maybe that should be one of my first projects – something to do with half a loaf of bread <g>. You mentioned how people wont even look at logo work anymore. Have you seen Typestry v2.0 on the Mac. That kind of explains it. All kinds of special effects; motion blurs, particles, fog and Renderman. I think it's around $200-250. I haven't used it myself, just saw part of a demo. There is a windows v1.x awaiting update to the same feature set as the mac. They also put as a "survival tips for 3d beginners" at the end of their brochure that rendering takes a lot of time "so have patience". I wonder if that's for the business crowd that has no idea what awaits them and finally yields to panic and calls tech support in a panic <g>. I've been following the Hash threads and faxed a request for information to them. Seems to be a real point of contention around here. I'm surprised at how resistant some individuals are to it, but if the package is as non-standard as they say I can understand. I wonder when IK will show up through IPAS. Do you know if the upcoming IPAS routines are r2 compatible.
