Bailey, Sorry I haven't gotten back to you, I've been in D.C. To answer your question, of course you can grab frames from the RE2. You cannot however render in field mode with the RE2, and although many have played with simply taking a series of frames and converting them to field mode after rendering, the image quality suffers. Above all else, rendering through hardware such as the current revision of the RE2 just isn't comparable to a software rendered image. On all SGI machines you can render through hardware and save the frame. The rendered image, however, lacks the quality and robustness of a software rendered image. Hence the absolute need to render through software for broadcast work that is going to tape. Paul
