I think what is happening is: The Amiga is going to be for the very well off
only. If we can't afford hard disks and memory expansion, we can't use much of
the software for the machine. Now, getting a hard disk is not impossible for
me – I will get one sometime this year, I think. But it does bother me to shut
out all the people who cannot afford them.
I continue to wonder if it is REALLY necessary for programs to demand that I
use a specific font which must be in my fonts: directory, else the program wont
run. And a specific extra handler or library, etc., etc., etc.
I can see your points. But I'm not convinced that ALL the things I'm required
to put on my WB are necessary to the health of the software I'm running. Some
of it seems to have been a whim of the programmer – and too much of that is not
very considerate of people who can't afford the humongous memory and hard
disks.
