Wishlist
The program is called REND386. Its freeware and the file I
downloaded had the source code (Borland C) as well as the
executable. To get it: GO CYBERF, then keyword search for REND386.
You get lots of options (I got the Cyberman version, and I think it
was about a 650K zip file). Also be sure to get the DXF2PLG
converter so you can import your 3ds models.
I could not find any readme files for it. If you press the H key
while its running, you get some online help – well, actually about 4
words per command! Anyway its pretty easy to fumble through.
The rendering quality is quite crude (understatement), but it
constantly displays your frame rate while doing fly-thrus, and it
easily maintains 10 fps on my 486/50. Its cool for moving
about/over/into models. Have fun 🙂
