Thanks for the hunch, Dave. I had checked the disk with Norton but I'll drag out the SpinRite and turn on the torture test. I was, in fact, downloading several in succession without erasing any, so different sectors would have been used. Since I also had problems doing an on-line read of an ASCII file, I suspected either CIS corruption or some wierd phone/modem schism. The forth try for SKIN.ZIP was the charm – I d/l'ed it successfully today (and it is MARVELLOUS – I've got to get that IPAS!) Also today, I got a pile of other files that came thru OK, although they ALL had CRC errors earlier. ???
