The reason the $300 Amiga (actually it is closer to $400) may be over has to do with the fact that the A1200 will probably cease production for the US market after the next production run–which is already late. I got this from Dilullo and though not necesarily in stone Commodore International wants Commodore US to commit for about 10,000 A1200 systems. Commodore can only find demand for about 2,500 systems nationwide. There is a production run that should be underway now and after that A1200s are going to get real scarce (like they are now). Of course with the advent of the CD32 expansion technology that Micro R&D have the A1200 may well be moot.
