IM R/t is cheap ($75), and does alot. I'd recommend getting it as an add-on to ImageFX or ADPro. (Personally, I haven't used ADPro in months – I _hate_ their interface, it's worse than IM's by a long shot.) ImageFX has a decent GUI, and offers somewhat better area selection tools than IM. (IM's area selection is shown in a little tiny window at the bottom of the screen, not like a standard 'marguee' overlaid on the image – as you'd see on a Mac.) It seemed to lack the wide range of features that IM offers, which in the end made it easier to use 'out-of-the-box'. None of them holds a candle to PhotoShop 2.5…..But then IM is 1/10th the price of PS.
