MICROBOTICS! I have posted on this section in the past info concerning a problem I have had with the otherwise excellent 50 mhz M1230XA 68030 accelerator + 5omhz 68882 FPU + 8 megs 32bit fastram. The problem originally was that the computer was losing too much graphics memory for the M1230XA to be working properly. I was routinely left with just over 1Mb of Graphics memory and had to double-click on the Workbench window twice to get the *Mb fast ram to be made available to me. This is obviously not acceptable as I need more Graphics memory in order to multitask effectively. These are the problems:- 1: When the AUTOXA is loaded into the WBStartup directory the computer crashes repeatedly. 2: When AUTOXA is called from the startup-sequence as advised in the info sheet as supplied with the accelerator, the computer also crashes. I thought originally that the way I was writing it into the startup was wrong but with considerable help from other M1230XA owners here in this section (thanks all you guys!) I was able to establish that was not the problem. One individual kindly suggested that the problem may be with the AutoXA program itself. Therefore I downloaded the version uploaded to the library by MICROBOTICS some time ago and ran that through my computer – the same problems as above occured. But then something amazing or just odd …. I started up my computer using the floppy workbench rather than booting from the 250MB MAXTOR hard drive. Naturally the boot went OK but when I double-clicked on the AutoXA icon inside the Hard DRive's WBStartup drawer the whole thing seemed to work perfectly; I discovered I now had Graphic: 2,013,144 FAST: 8,101,128 available to me – but only when I booted from the floppy rather than the hard drive. This cannot be the way the program works surely? So, MICROBOTICS, I need to know; 1: Can you resolve this problem for me? What do I do next to get everything working right? 2: Is the entire M1230XA duff or is it just the AutoXA? 3: Should I send it back to the America-based mail-order distributer I bought it from or can you replace it directly? I'd rather get the unit working properly than do this as I will be losing effective use of my computer for the best part of a month while it is changed over. THANKS FOR YOUR PRODUCT SUPPORT, IAIN.
