Aegis Draw

Thanks for the encouragement. After a good nights sleep and a couple of
strong cups of coffee, my outlook is improving. I do not think that the
problems that I am having are related to the shortage of memory. The problem
seems to be that Aegis Draw has NO utility. After spending a lot of time on
the manual and trying to make a drawing, I don't see how it can be done. All
I want to do is simple 2 D mechanical drawing with scaled input and output.
How do you draw two lines intersecting at any angle, say 56 degrees? How do
you make parallel lines spaced an exact distance apart (and not horizontal or
vertical)? How do you end a line and start an arc, and then continue another
line? Maybe I just don't understand how a CAD program is supposed to work, I
certainly acknowledge that possibility. But the manual gives NO clue as to
how to approach a drawing.
My frustration is aimed not only at Aegis but at other software folks too. I
have purchased Textcraft, Scribble!, DeluxePrint, Pascal, and have seen a few
others, all of which leave a lot to be desired. They are marginal, at best,
and are almost in the category of toy software. I keep hearing about the
great software that 's coming, but each new package is half done! The
software folks say "What do you expect in such a cheap product?" and I
answer, "Cheap is relative. If I can't do what I need to do, the product is
not cheap at any pric Selling software that doesn't do anything is what I
call "Software Piracy".
Commode Ore is not helping matters. They seem to be good at making all the
wrong moves. On the one hand, they say they are betting the farm on the
Amiga and on the other hand, they say that Amiga is not paying for itself and
will have to take cuts just like everyone else. I've heard that there is
nobody writing documentation now (are you happy with the manuals?) and they
no longer have a quality control person to find bugs in Workbench 1.2. As a
user, those are pretty important to me. And hardware, Jay Miner said at the
June FAUG meeting, Sidecar and Genlock, by Christmas, HOPEFULLY! Amiga Live
developer said 4 more months! And, when are we going tt affordable memory
expansion and acceptable HiRes? Well, I intend to write long letters to Aegis
and the Scribble!minds. If I can figure out how to send them electronically,
I'll send you copies. I'm not ready to chainsaw my Amiga, but it does look
like it will be a lot longer than I thought before I can rely on Amiga for my
computing needs. THE PROMISE OF THE AMIGA REMAINS UNFULLFILLED!!!
