#FCC Access charge

The FCC has given tentative approval to having an access charge of four to
five dollars for information services like compuserve. I don't know all the
details but it is going to make accessing data bases like compuserve quite
a bit more expensive than it is now. It probably won't help to write the
FCC (after I wrote them a letter they sent me back a whole sheaf of
gobbledygook concocted by some attorney to make it difficult or impossible
to make sense out of what action to take to stave off this ridiculous
charge. This is just another fine example of your government at work. This
is what we pay taxes for. Of course the businesses that pay the access
charge can write it off, but the average Joe who wants to use the nets is
going to be screwed. If anyone has any suggestion on what might be done to
help ourselves, I am all ears. Marc Baime
