Don, I am having a devil of a time, and Betty Clay said you were the man to help me. Here's the problem. I recently bou!t my A2000 with a bridgeboard and a CMS 4jeg hard card/controller. The card was plugged into the PC Bus slot, and I used the MSDos programs that came with the Bridgeboard to partition it for 1/2 1/2 use on both sides of the fence (the programs are "fdisk" for the PC side, and "adisk" for the Amiga side). The thing ran well enough, and then crashed with the message "System Hard Disk has a Read/Write Error." That was that. after fooling with the thing for several days, and trying to sneak in the back door, I packed the thing back off to Compurter Mail Order in Pennsylvania for repair or replacement. It is 'nuff said that they couldn't get the damn thing to work either, so they sent me a new one after 8 weeks with the thing. I received the new one yesterday (1-5-89)–same model and brand. I followed the directions in the bridgeboard manual for partitioning the hard card, and couldn't even get the thing to recognize the program. When I ran "fdisk" I got the message "Error Reading Fixed Disk." When I ran "adisk" I got the message "Partition Table Error." Now i'm no expert, but there's something fundamentally wrong here! Either A: this disk is a piece of junk from the word go, or B: my pc bus slots are trashed (not likely, since the bridgeboard works, and I am running my modem from the slot the hard card was in) or C: my msdos software is fuzzy somewhere. Now I would tell you what the hard-card manual says, but I never received one, and all attempts to get one have gotten me nowhere. So. What's the deal here? Do I commit hari-kari tonight? Do I send the thing back for another 2-month stint with the so-called "experts," or do I forget about the whole thing. I need advice badly on this one.
