Sorry about the screwy mssg. last night – had a bad day, line noise, etc..
After so many years, If I can't get a piece of s/w to perfrom relatively
quickly, I get *very* upset. Communications software/hardware has given me the
worst time, in what little experience I have with it. An associate gave me this
modem end of last year (no manual), but had been successful with it and Hayes
Smartcom for Windows and Crosstalk for DOS.
Since running the terminal emulation gets me logged on to CIS, where I can
then take over manually, I suppose it must be the script or something else
obscure to me. It was *very* late after a long frustrating day trying to get
the DVORAK navigator to work. However, the scripts seem pretty straightfoward
if you've used CIS before. Plus, I used the mail script that came with it and
just told it to get all mail – period. I don't grasp the "passes" yet though. I
can't stand s/w with on-line help only unless you've got 2 machines
side-by-side ! Not very practical other than for reference *after* you've read
a printed manual.
On the script editor side I have :
Sessions Settings (must work in order to get on manually via Term.Emu.?)
Compuserve Mail Hierarchy for Mail (receive all mail)
Yet, something as simple as this doesn't work as I explained last night, and
immediatedly disconnects after apparently logging on successfully. I tried from
preview, run 1 pass, and just run. I'm going to start over today fresh, weaving
my way through the on-line help threads.

That would be wonderful if you would be so kind. I really appreciate it. I feel
SOOOOOO stupid. Never fooled with this sort of thing much. Last time was when
2400 baud was blazing ! Only other time, 300 baud was the only game in town
(early-mid '80's).
B/T/W, for "experienced communicators" such as yourself <g>, the dvorak product
*LOOKS* better now that I've seen both on the surface. There is 2 versions for
DOS/WINDOWS each – SE & TE. Don't waste d/l time with the SE. TE is 30-day
non-desctructive bomb (like neutron). Thanks again.
