They definitely don't use 'em – (I-'88, snakes ). Just to get back to the thread subject, I gave a demo of Zoe at AMUSE last tuesday and showed off a lot of its new capabilities (new as in officially released). If anyone at ANTIC is listening, Pleeeeeze fix the memory bomb bug. It's embarassing, although I structured my demo so as to create the bomb early in the show. I can get out of it (by running the old Zoe…) but the less fortunate customers cannot. I observed als this interesting phenom. : I wrote a program whose sole purpose is to grab some core (memory to you neophytes) and hang on to it until the close box of its window is hit. The idea is to keep zoe'[s hands off it until it has grabbed its memory, and then to release it for use by fonts and cli programs (like format). This seems to cause a Zoe memory bomb every time. By memory bomb, i mean it GURUs right after loading a .RIF file. Some memory management! I hope the ST version bombs more. ANyway, I'm doing a very long animation in it featuring DPainted screens (for the smooth, blended effects) in a number of .rifs to be spliced together. Lots and Lots of fun. J H H Lowengard
