I posted a message in the cyberf forum about documentation for rend386. Someone told me to look into a book called Virtual Reality Creations by Dave Stampe, Bernie Roehl, and Hohn Eagan. I got this book today, and maybe half of its 600 or so pages are devoted to rend386. The book comes with a copy of the software and a bunch of 'worlds' you can move thru. Some of them are pretty cool, albeit simple. Theres one which is an 'amusement park' with a spinning disk, ferris wheel, balloon ride…You move around in the park, and when you get close to a ride, you (the camera) is attached and you go for a ride. Again, its only 320x200x8, but its interesting. A fair amount of the book deals with how to create these worlds. I'm using a joystick to move around and it is really very intuitive, which is why I would like to see 3ds implement something like this for keyframing camera motion or manipulating objects. Anyway, it you still have an interest in pursuing this program, I think the book is a good place to look. It cost $36.00.
