1) If you always want to start the Sidecar in color mode, then you should create an AUTOEXEC.BAT file that contains the MODE CO80 command. This way the system will always boot in color, and you can just start the PC Color program. If you ever want to go back to mono, you can just boot from a different diskette (or change the AUTOEXEC file, reboot, and start PC Mono). 2) I don't know what you mean by using the 5 1/4" as an external unit. External to what? 3) The power supply will handle a external 3.5" drive. I just took my external drive from the 1000, and plugged it into the Sidecar, and presto!, a 3.5" drive running under MS-DOS. It will handle either the 360K format or the 720K format. I use it quite a bit for transferring MS DOS software to the 3.5 format for the PS/2's. As I recall, I had to set an internal switch in the Sidecar to tell it that it had 2 diskette drive, and I had to set up some stuff in the config.sys file to get it to use the 720K 3.5 format. I am using PC DOS 3.2, not the version of DOS that came with the Sidecar (MS DOS 2.11?). 4) You cannot partition the external drive like you can with the harddisk. Howevery, this should not be necessary, as I believe you can copy files from the MS DOS side to the Amiga side with the copy command (I believe you have to do a MOUNT JF:, and then copy JF:A:test.fle df0:letters/test.fle, or something like that). Of course, if you wanted to be able to have the one 3.5" used by both at the same time, you're out of luck (sorry, can't have your cake & eat it too).
