….that blurs TRACED reflections(?),… not that I know of, off hand. But
then, I'm not really examing other programs that closely, so I may have
overlooked it somewhere. There are, however, other programs that blur cubic or
spherical reflection maps in scanline render modes, which is essentially what
I'm doing with global mapping and compositing techniques in Imagine.
If Impulse can jimmy the blurring algorithm into ray-tracing though, I think it
could be a more robust tool, in part because it would work directly with
ray-traced shadows. Nevertheless, for right now, I am fairly confident the
shadows can be added back into the Scanline renders with a few compositing
tricks.

I suspected you did. I added the explanation for the benefit of other readers
because I know many people get confused by this, myself included. Sorry, I
