The evening after I posted my message in this thread about NewTek "siccing the lawyers on BB" (hey, if I said it, I can misquote it 🙂 I recieved a private message from RAD Moose @ NewTek, requesting that I call him immediately, and leaving several phone numbers… I called almost as soon as I read the Email, and his immediate response was, "I'll call you back in 1 minute" (thus reversing the charges) Once he called me back (it was indeed 1 minute) he spent a couple hours on the phone explaining in detail, reading transcripts of public (and I believe some private) messages, all in a calm, almost passive voice. He even divulged a minute amount of 'burn before reading' top secret information in order to clarify their position. I was very impressed with the highly professional and courteous way that he (NewTek) responded. This is the kind of behaviour I expect from Amiga developers. The bottom line was that they couldn't let the accusation of "stealing" go unanswered. He also made it very clear that it wasn't a matter of trying to hide bad press, but that such untrue allegations could and would hurt their business. I inferred that NewTek would not object to any allegations being posted stated that had _evidence_ to back it up. I have no desire to dredge up this old subject (as RAD said, they consider it all in the past), but, I do believe it's important to let people know the exceptional way that NewTek responded to my message.
