Actually, I think Lightworks is a superb system. If I were cutting a feature I
would want to be on one. In my time I've used Steenbeck, , EMC2, Avid, Montage,
and dabbled with Lightworks. Each has a strengths and weaknesses. But for
feature film editing I believe Lightworks is the way to go. For "on-line" I
would go Avid. For very long-form documentary (off-line) the EMC2 has some
advantages.
They're all just tools.
You're in Europe? Where are you working? Whenever I'm in Europe I spend a fair
amount of time watching TV to see how things are done over there. I like a lot
of the graphic work, which is rather different from U.S styles. I didn't make
it to IBC this past year. What's new and exciting in the Euro TV scene?
