I am also relatively new to desktop animation and have been working with LightWave 3D from NewTek. This program has been around for many years on the AMIGA and is now available (or should be within a month) for the PC. This is the program they have been using for Babylon 5 and SeaQuest on TV and they also used it for preliminary mock-ups in Jurasic Park. I've found it quite easy to catch on to and was up and running in no time producing professional quality work. Other programs I looked at, most costing considerrably more, seemed to have a much steeper learning curve to get similar results. But do shop around first. For under a thousand bucks you'd have a hard time beating LightWave for capabilities and quality. Don't ignore this software when you're out shopping. Good luck, Russ Spencer / Michael Miloff & Associates
