Is it really true that oil would become tar if heated under *anoxic* high-pressure situations?? I find it hard to believe that *all* oil was only *briefly* heated a few days (was that you or someone else who said that). We're talking *geological* here, where a short time is 100,000 years! Do you have any info concerning percentages of the various kinds of stuff (complex molecules and/or chirality) found in oil? Re: a "clincher" that it's of bio origin and not bio "contamination". This may be a no-brainer but — (no, not what you're thinking) — I "know nothing" about hard data when it comes to this; it's why I started this thread. Hey, here's a thought — where does Carbon-14 dating fit into all this? Anyone done anything with that? is that how they tell what geologic time period oil is from? Thanks! – Mike
