smpte color bars, again
Admittedly I have an obsession with these bars. For some reason, I am
absolutely stuck to the notion that if I can provide "post-production" with
good bars, then they can adjust my animations when going to "on-line" such that
the quality is as good as we can get.
Well, based on the documention from a color bar utility (for VGA) that I
downloaded from the forum and the NTSCBAR.prj from Mr. Jordan, I believe, I
have been able to construct most of the bars for the traditional SMPTE bars.
The 3.5, 7.5, and 11.5 IRE black bars were kind of fudged, I think I set them
at around (1,1,1), (3,3,3), and (5,5,5) RGB. I am really stuck, though, on the
I and Q values. I understand that I = R-Y and Q=B-Y, but now I am lost. Are
these even do-able?
Also, based on what I have read and heard around here we bumped our default
gamma for video to 2.2. This now appears to be too hot. The local video
production house can't adjust the "setting" back down enough. Am I the only
one with this problem?
No for the last problem/question. On the bars that I am generating, there is
obvious noise/disturbance between the magenta/red interface and the red/blue
interface. Upon closer inspection, both visually and on the scope, this noise
is not only present along all of the bar interfaces, but in all of our
animations? At first we just thought is was tape noise, but that has been
ruled out. Any suggestions would greatly increase the hours of good sleep that
I can get.
