Richard, I think it's important for you and Jim to put some demo images and flics together that show off GD and upload them here to the forum. Size is going to be a problem (since gradients, by nature, don't compress well and make huge flics), but some simple examples of gradients used as texture map masks and alpha mattes (in particular) would help to enlighten everyone.
