I actually once spent a little (amateur) time studying the kinds of asteroids in the asteroid belt. As you probably know, there are differential distributions. If I remember right, the CC ones are generally farther out, "rockier" ones (more metallic) farther in. (Consistent with general layout of solar system, gas giants farther out?)
